  • Experience is not always needed. You do not need to have completed any professional experience, but any work in languages, NGOs, teaching, tutoring, or education can be helpful. We consider every application on a case-by-case basis.

  • Classes are three hours long, twice a week. Alongside this, there is around 2-4 hours of preparation for classes. We have many lectures from previous semesters which you can use if you want to spend less time planning, but you are also free to plan your own lecturers and activities.

  • Our teaching positions are all voluntary (unpaid) but some of our teachers are part of a course/university degree that includes an internship or volunteering project. Where necessary, we will fill in all the supervisor forms for this project. For students at Amsterdam University College, course credits can be gained as an Community Project/Internship.

  • No, we consider all applications on a case-by-case basis. We also especially welcome applications from people with a refugee background.

  • We also have a system of ‘floating teachers’ who stand in when others are unavailable. The floating teachers also work on extra academic projects, such as academic resources. If you have ideas for extra academic projects or resources please contact us.

  • We are always happy to have extra input on teacher-training, or new volunteers to run workshops and training sessions for our teachers. If this is something you would be interested in, please contact us.
